Fresh Produce

Our farm specializes in growing vegetables such as green, red, yellow, purple, ivory, and orange sweet peppers, romaine lettuce, and rhubarb.

Portable Peach Orchard

Hennigar Farms has the world’s first Portable Peach Orchard!

Traditionally, peach trees are hard to grow in Nova Scotia. Over-wintering temperatures along with fluctuating spring weather cause severe injury. Overcoming this problem and producing a good crop every year was the goal of this project initiated in 1983.

We grow our peach trees in palletized containers (similar to a bulk bin but half the size) that could be picked up with a fork-lift on a tractor and moved into a tunnel house for the winter.  The trees blossom inside the greenhouse, are self-pollinating and are brought outside once the dangers of frost are over.  These peaches ripen early, are picked daily and are the sweetest and juiciest found in the valley!
